MISSiON+VISION
We're On a Mission...
...to connect people in a relationship with Jesus through the cross and resurrection, community of faith, and the truths of Jesus that set us free.
These connections lead us to experience healing and to develop into players in God's kingdom.
Our mission is founded upon the Great Commission and the two greatest commandments given to all believers by Jesus Himself.
The Great Commission - Matthew 28:18-20
"Jesus said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"
The Two Greatest Commandments - Matthew 22:34-40
Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
We've Been Given a Vision...
The Vision: What God desires to see from Highland Hills Church
What is "C3HD"?
C3HD summarizes our vision at Highland Hills Church.
**The "C" stands for Connection.
There are 3 connections that we believe every person needs to make:
1. Connect with Jesus Christ
2. Connect with The Truths of God's Word
3. Connect with the Community of Believers
We believe that the first and most important connection is a relationship with Jesus Christ through His death on the cross and His resurrection. A personal relationship with Jesus is the foundation that holds up C3HD. The second connection is to the truth of the Word of God, the Holy Bible, and its application to our lives. The third connection is to the community of faith. Relationships are an important aspect of daily life and intimate fellowship within the Kingdom of God.
Here are some important things to know about your connection to Jesus through the cross and resurrection, to the truth of the Word of God, and to the community of faith:
-
It is a gift from God that cannot be earned. ~ Romans 3:30-24
-
It happens only through a relationship with Jesus. ~ John 14:6
-
It is the only avenue for total relief from the sinful condition. ~ John 8:36
-
It is a process. ~ Philippians 2:12-13
**The "H" stands for Healing.
God's healing is about becoming whole. It is a renewal of the mind, physical body, and of the spiritual condition. Through connection to Jesus, the community of faith, and to the Word of God, we have the opportunity to experience healing. Healing not only comes to the individual, but to the entire community as God's love and grace are freely expressed.
About Healing:
-
God's healing is about becoming whole. ~ Isaiah 53:4-6
-

-
God's healing is renewal of the physical body. ~ See the Gospels
-
God's healing is renewal of the spiritual condition. ~ Romans 6:1-14
**The "D" stands for Development.
As we connect and heal, we begin to develop into players in God's mission. The church is a body made up of many parts. Every converted believer is one of those parts of the Body of Christ. We are ALL called to be players in God's Kingdom. Development comes through the use of God-given spiritual gifts, and also through being involved and participating in the community of faith. We encourage everyone to get involved and to become players in the Kingdom.
Romans 12:4-6a; 1 Corinthians 12:12, 18-20; 1 Corinthians 12:3, 7; 2 Corinthians 5:18-20
About Development:
-
You are developed through using your spiritual gifts.
-
You are developed through trial and error.
-
You are developed through active participation in the body of Christ.
We do what we do at Highland Hills because God has given us this vision and mission. Everything we do must be driven by God's call upon us to see people make these connections, experience healing, and develop into players in God's kingdom.
